First identify where the suggestion appears. A sponsored card rotating on an Echo Show, a shopping notification and a spoken follow-up after a command have different controls. There is no verified single switch that removes all three. The wording and timing of the interruption tell you where to start.
For an Echo Show, inspect home content
Open the display’s settings and look for Home Content or the equivalent personalisation controls on your model. Turn off optional categories you do not want, such as product recommendations where offered. A tile marked Sponsored is different: Amazon says these ads cannot simply be switched off. Interest-based ad preferences change targeting, not whether every ad disappears.
For shopping alerts, use Notifications
Open Settings in the Alexa app, inspect Notifications and look for the shopping or service category that supplied the message. Disable just the recommendation you do not need if that control exists. If delivery updates are useful, retain them and test over the next ordinary delivery cycle rather than silencing all notifications.
For spoken follow-ups, test the trigger
Write down what you asked and the extra sentence that followed. Repeat a built-in command without opening a skill. If only one skill makes the suggestion, inspect that skill’s settings. Brief Mode can shorten acknowledgements but is not a universal suggestion filter. If the app exposes no relevant switch, send feedback with the exact phrase and device model.
For the documented details, see Echo Show recommendations.
